Managing Director

Jim is the fifth generation James Litchfield to run Hazeldean P/L. After completing a Bachelor of Agriculture at Orange Agricultural College and jackarooing in Northern NSW Jim came home to take the reins from his father, James Litchfield Snr.

Jim has expanded the business to market bulls in QLD, NSW and SA, the inception of the Senegus program and the progression of the Merino stud.

Jim is married to Libby and they have three children, James, Bea and Iona.

Bea returned home in 2015 to Hazeldean. After 4 years studying B. Ag. Sci at UNE and Sydney University majoring in Livestock Production (Hons 1), she then worked for a corporate Agricultural company before returning home. She also spent time in Canada and worked on RA Brown Cattle Ranch in Texas. She has taken up the role of Stud Stock Manager.

She is married to Ed and has two young boys Stirling and Fred.

Ed joined Hazeldean in early 2017. Ed takes care of sales and client services - he also does many of the ram and bull deliveries in the Hazeldean truck. He has a passion for livestock and in his role he strives to help clients get the right animals to meet their breeding objectives.

Ed spent a number of years working for Twynam at Jemalong Station in Forbes before completing a Diploma at Marcus Oldham and a Bachelor of Commerce. He has experience working in the Thoroughbred industry and the red meat industry as a trader.

Jenni joined Hazeldean in January 2016 to take care of the administration side of the business. She studied accounting through Charles Sturt Uni and has worked for both government and private business whilst always maintaining her connection with the agriculture industry. Jennifer continues a long time association between Hazeldean and the Miners family. She is as handy in the yards as she is in the office!

John has been managing Springdale since August 2024. John’s family property (along the road from Springdale) is where he grew up and developed his connection with the land and working with cattle.

John gained further experience working on other farms included time spent in the Territory on a cattle station.

Given that Luke has grown up on the Monaro, he is no stranger to working in the elements encountered at Myalla. With a reasonably high altitude, Myalla usually receives several snowfalls each winter along with plenty of frosts and then attracts a few downpours in the summertime.

Luke is a proficient stockman having leased property as well as worked on other farms carrying out beef and sheep enterprises. He has experience managing crops and improving pastures along with all the day to day operations that go into running a successful property.

Gus was awarded a scholarship at Marcus Oldham College that is sponsored by Hazeldean which led to him spending a year at Hazeldean getting exposure to both the Angus and Merino stud programs. Once he finished studying for his degree he was employed by Hazeldean to assist with the coordination of the team and resources to meet all the diverse elements required to run the multiple enterprises.

Derrick grew up at Gundagai. He worked in the meat processing industry prior to arriving at Myalla where he started as a stockman and quickly showed his aptitude for cattle and recording. Derrick is now the Stud Cattle Overseer and lives at Lincluden with his lovely family, wife Holly and daughters Skylar, Mikayla and Emelia.

Lucy commenced working at Hazeldean in July 2023. Lucy attained her BA Ag/Business at UNE and then went working for a year in the territory. Lucy hails from the Wagga Wagga area.

Nico is heading the cropping and pasture improvement operations across both Hazeldean and Myalla as well as being involved in all the cattle and sheep operations. He enjoys all the facets of the ag industry, particularly the beef seedstock area.

Nico moved to Hazeldean after a few years working in the Riverina and the NT. Nico is part way through studying for his Bachelor of Ag Business Management degree and will one day take over his family’s commercial beef property in NSW’s northern rivers district.
